Dear Rusty,

Got a very somber note from Jamie today. I wish he had better news.

Every performance has to end. Unfortunately, some performances - great performances - end much sooner than we would like.

You have given everything you have - given it freely and without reservation - to your family, your friends and to your audiences. And when you've given it all, it is OK to listen to the applause, take a final bow and leave the stage.

We will all remember you and your work and the joy and love of life you brought into our lives.

Rusty,Allison and Nate,

We are all thinking of you here on the Hill as we are a week away from Winter Carnival. Plenty of snow is everywhere for all of the events. Let's hope the weather isn't too cold. Everyone at Eaglebrook is thinking of you. Lots of love.Andy

Just wanted to say how much fun I have had watching Rusty at MoonWorks. The first time I went to an Evening of Original Works I saw Rusty and it was probably the best time I've ever had in NYC. Rusty rocked and it was hard to believe anyone could be that talented, truly amazing. I instantly became a fan of Rusty's and MoonWorks. Thanks a ton Rusty and I hope to see on stage again soon.

Hey there Rusty and Alison and Nat!

I went to Michelle "The Wall" Matlock's birthday party last night - remembering Midsummer Night's Dream and "Dane" - and Rusty dancing around with an accordion and a moon on his head. Thanks for the smile!

My thoughts are with you all today, Love, Kathy

RUSTY!

Sorry I didn't call you and Jimmy ("J-I-double-M-Y, ---M-A-G-E-E-- spells 'Jim Magee.......") As a TRUE lyricist (sp){-boy did I butcher THAT spelling} I am sure you can appreciate the tunes that we remember as kids........(or MADE UP, sorry, Jimmy!) Hey, you look good with no hair, but it goes without saying that I'm sure you would prefer to have it.

Rusty, MOST of us are parents now, and the fact that YOU ARE TOO should give you GREAT consolation. Yea, I can ONLY SPECULATE how much it must pain you to think about the future, (I can't even write a friggin joke here, thanks Kenny!) OKAY, I will, well, it's not a joke to ANYONE, who didn't grow up with Rusty. SO STOP READING. (It may not even be a joke to Rusty)

But, "He - Her, Sir" and remember, that "He who 'Huers' first, will most likely 'Huer' again in the 'Future'............

So all of you who DIDN'T grow up with the Magee's are all now totally convinced that I am very weird, (you're right)

BUT, of those 6-8 guys (including Jay 'Pay Day' Ennis, the "Boudage's," Hassingers, Gould's, Wunche's, etc., etc. ) who DID grow up with Rusty (and were touched by your presence) You've LIVED the GOOD Life!

What is the "good life?" You have offspring. At least that is what I consider the "good life". YOU carry on, no matter if you are here ten more minutes, or ten more decades. I don't know your wife, or family, and we haven't talked since Kenny's wedding............

BUT, you have kids and a family, and you IMPACTED SO MANY PEOPLE'S lives..........

Rusty, if all "healthy" people on this planet could have done 1/100th of what you've done on the short time that you and I have been stalking this Earth.....................

Shit, think about the possibilities....................

I'm gonna "send" this now, only 'cause my computer is acting up

Pray for us Magee, and know that we are praying for you. I haven't 'talked' to you in years, but I can ABSOLUTELY say I love you Rusty.

And remember, Sharpy was "Dog Of The Year" for six years running..........

Rusty, older brother.
I have so many vivid memories of you when we were growing up. I always wanted to be just like you.

There are many things that an older brother does that will make an impact on his little brother through out his life. What I learned from you is only good, You are a perfect brother, son, husband and father. And I hope that the rest of my life, I will do things that make you as proud of me, as I am of you.

There are so many people you have touched worldwide, who pray for you each and every day. I am one of them, but one who has been blessed to have been touched by you since the day i was born. I have had Rusty Magee in my life for 44 years, more than anyone but Mom. And I am so happy that I have had you for 44 years to call my brother. I only wish that, after I have dedicated my adult life towards helping others, I could help you more, the most important role model I have. I can only pray, and pray some more.

I know that we as a family are in a rough postion here. We are all sad about what has happened, but as I reach up through the dark clouds of sadness, I grasp a memory, a thought, or something that reminds me of you. I pull it down from the darkness and realize that the clouds will clear up, the clear skys will be bigger and brighter than Montana in the Fall, and there will be a part of you that that makes me smile and realize that the only people that should be sad, are those who never knew you.

I love you very much.
Kenny

I'm loving this website, Rustifer.
Some random memories for you today...see if you remember too: The people in Paris in 1977, Carole Guarandelli, and Daniel. The postcard to Jim Barnhill that said "HAWT WYWH" that he puzzled over all summer long, concluding that it meant "What, why". You streaking down the aisle in Story Theatre as the Flounder, hurling yourself bodily onstage in one huge fish flop, inciting roars from the audience. Singing "Baby, Now that I've Found You I Can't Let you Go" 378 times in Barnhill's class exercise. Jim Tim Edwards...and the leaves. The leaves.

Dear Rusty,

Those who don’t know you will be in awe when they see this website. Reading of your remarkable musical and theatrical accomplishments, they’ll marvel that one person got so much talent. Reading the many notes from your friends, they’ll marvel even more that one person got – and gave – so much love.

They couldn’t suspect that those of us who do know you are even more in awe. You are our friend, our hero, our inspiration. We are blessed.

How could 32 years have passed since we met? I look forward to seeing you soon, and at the Exeter reunion, and frequently for the next 32 years – and then some.

Love
Robert
