RUSTY:
You probably wouldn't know me, but I've made it a point to come up to you after many a Moonwork show to say thanks.

I used to go to Moonwork almost all the time, especially when I was going through a very rough time financially. In those days I would make sure I had my 10 bucks set aside for the weekend, especially on the nights when I knew that you were going to be on the bill. I knew that no matter how crappy my week had been, you would make sure it had a great finish, making the next week seem a little bit less intimidating.

Well, now I'm doing a lot better and I've really been out of the loop for some time. This week I heard you were going through some tough times and, thanks to Moonwork, I got this link to contact you. So now I've written you an obnoxiously long message that really is designed to say something quite simple: you & your work have played a very important part in getting me through a pretty down period. Now that you're having one, my most heartfelt prayers go out to you. If there's anything that I can do to help make times a little easier for YOU, don't hesitate to contact me.

I'll keep my ear to the ground & expect - no, DEMAND - to hear only good news about you & your health.

Or else I'll come over there & make you watch MY act. No, I'm serious - believe me, you don't WANT that kind of trouble...

God bless.

Hi Rusty,

Back in 1996 I had just moved to NY and at my first Moonwork you did a song about Jeffrey Meyer and the help he gave our boy Jeter. What a quick wit and talent you are! I have been at many a Moonwork since and the most recent was just not the same without you. Please know so many people are thinking of you and wish you all the health and happiness you deserve.

Get well soon,
Patty

Hey Rusty!
Here's a joke I stole from Greg Wolfe (don't worry, he's still got plenty)

Q: What did the Zero say to the Number Eight?

A: Nice belt.

See you soon.
Love, Kathy

Rusty,
I have seen you many times at Moonwork over the past few years and I just wanted to let you know that I have always enjoyed your performances. I wish you the best of luck in your fight against cancer.
Thanks for all the laughs,
Sarah

Rusty,
I was at Moonwork a couple of weeks ago. I saw you for the first time. I enjoyed your performance. But more importantly, I respected your zeal for life. My dad had cancer and lost his battle when I was a kid, but my friend Tish has won hers over the past 15 years. I don't presume to know how you feel or what you have been through based on the experiences of the people I love, but I do wish you well and hope for the best for you.

Dear Rusty,
I think about you all the time, unless I'm obsessing about meeting women.
And that night at the West Bank was amazing. Watching you perform was awe-inspiring. But I feel that way any time we've just hung out. I wish you all the health and happiness the world can offer. And my best to Alison and Nat.
Love,
Scott

Rusty --

A website. How exciting. Rusty -- this is the longest in a very, very long time that I have not visited or seen you so we must get together very soon. I think about you every day. I think about Alison and I think about the genius of Nat. I miss you so much and all my thoughts are with you because - well here it comes. You are the most awesome, amazing man.

Love,

Nancy

Rusty and Alison,

I'm thinking of you and your son.

Rusty, I hope you regain your strength and good cheer soon. I am looking forward to hearing your rhythmic tunes and laughter and seeing your giant smile.

You are our Exeter Broadway star!!!

Lots of love and kisses and big hugs.
